I’m also concerned to see Man City in second spot. However it’s early days and things can change again and again over the course of the season. I think that if Chelsea get a few injuries (OK, Fat Frank has been out for a few weeks) they will struggle against tougher opposition on the road. Especially if Drogba or Anelka are out for a period of time. Next May I reckon United will just pip Chelsea and get revenge for last season. Especially as Chelsea are the only team which have started with a bang and not really suffered a dip in form yet, largely due to their inferior opponents to date.
Oh, and wouldn’t it be nice if Liverpool got relegated too.
Come the end of the season I’m predicting the top 4 to look like this:
Man United
Chelsea
Arsenal
Man City
]]>Watching the game on Sky Sports yesterday, there was a comment that Arsenal WERE dangerous last season with their formidable partnership between Van Persie and Emmanuel Adebayor, now of Manchester City. They brushed aside AC Milan in the Champions League, and were a team that were nearly perfect, bar maybe 1 or 2 signings. Bring on the summer transfer window at the start of the season and what did they do? That’s right, they sold Adebayor and didn’t recruit anyone as a worthy replacement.
Arsene Wenger is a great manager, but I still feel that he has a stubborn streak that is leaving his side a little short when it comes to challenging for the Premier League crown. Hopefully my words won’t come back an haunt me.
So who will win the league this year? My bet in on the winner of the Manchester United vs Chelsea game at Old Trafford on 3rd April this year.
]]>There are rumours that Barcelona and Real Madrid are lining up £70million plus bids for the striker. But Rooney has stood firm and said that he plans on staying at Old Trafford. Rooney is in scintillating form after his 4 goal haul against Hull followed by the derby crushing of Manchester City in the Carling Cup and his goal at the Emirates against Arsenal at the weekend. Sir Alex Ferguson has set Rooney a target of 30 goals this season. By the looks of it he will be nearer 40 if he continues in such a rich vain of form until the end of the 2010 campaign.
]]>Fifa have declared that it is up to the Togo national team what the players can be released to go back to their domestic clubs after their team bus was ambushed killing three people. Rumours are that Adebayor could be back at Eastland’s by the weekend and ready to play. I hope he remembers to take his arsenal shirt off before he gets there though!
]]>Since then, he has been a free agent and he has been training with Arsenal to keep himself fit. Last night he played 45 minutes for the reserves team before being substituted. Now it has emerged that in the next couple of days he will be signing for the Gunners again. Sol has been quoted as saying that Arsene isn’t stupid and wouldn’t sign him if there wasn’t a roll for him.
The signing comes in the light that there is interest from other clubs including Newcastle and Hull, however Arsenal would always be Number 1 for for Sol as it is were he spent the best of his days.
